Over four days in January 2024, 30 government animal health workers (frontliners) from the West Java Province participated in the Animal Disease Outbreak Investigation, Mitigation and Response Training, delivered in collaboration with the Indonesian Veterinary Faculty Association (AFKHI) and the Directorate of Animal Health Services of the Ministry of Agriculture.
The frontliners learned about participatory rural appraisal and persuasive communication methods for livestock disease investigations in the field. Participants also learned about mapping and timing of the spread livestock diseases and epidemics using real case studies faced by cattle farmers in Indonesia. The training substantially strengthened the capacity of frontline animal health staff to anticipate and respond to future disease outbreaks in Indonesia.
