FAWO Hold a National Skills Competition
Over two days in January 2024 the Forum Animal Welfare Officer (FAWO) held the first ever Indonesian Animal Welfare Officer National Competition. The event was attended by over 60 Animal Welfare Officers (AWOs) from 17 Australian beef companies covering exporters, feedlots and abattoirs. The competition entailed participants showcasing their skills and knowledge on various aspects of animal welfare within the red meat and cattle sector.
The competition was followed by an annual planning meeting for FAWO members across Indonesia where Dr. Ismaul Ailim, from Austrex, was appointed Chairman of the FAWO for the 2024-2027 period. Going forward the FAWO will focus on obtaining sufficient funding for the organization to ensure animal welfare standards in the red meat and cattle sector in Indonesia can be sustained.
